Over 8 trillion small pieces of plastic enter aquatic habitats every day. Governor Jerry Brown has until October 11 to sign A.B. 888, a measure to ban the sale of products containing plastic microbeads after 2020. We’ll talk with two conservation researchers from UC Davis about the science behind this plastic contamination and how it affects the environment.
We'll speek with Sara Kross, a 2013 David H. Smith Conservation Research Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of California Davis and The Nature Conservancy.
Kross says consumers should check labels for "polyethylene, polylactic acid (PLA), polypropylene, polystyrene, or polyethylene terephthalate.”
