California's November ballot measure to legalize recreational marijuana has a surprise new endorsement: Republican Congressman Tom McClintock.
He's a staunch conservative who represents a district that ranges from Roseville to Lake Tahoe and Yosemite.
McClintock says he abhors the use of marijuana, but current laws have failed.
McClintock is second GOP member of the House to endorse Proposition 64. Orange County Congressman Dana Rohrabacher, who's been a longtime supporter of legalizing marijuana, was an early supporter of the initiative.
Democratic Senator Dianne Feinstein is a leading opponent of Prop 64. She argues the measure lacks protections for children and drivers.
