One person has died and the California Highway Patrol says two have sustained "major injuries" in a crash Thursday involving a school bus and one other vehicle near Smartsville.
KCRA reports the crash occurred at Hammonton-Smartsville Road and Chuck Yeager Road south of Highway 20 in Yuba County.
Wheatland School District Superintendent Craig Guensler said the bus was involved in a head-on crash.
There were 20 students on the bus at the time of the crash, and the bus driver and students were not hurt, Guensler said.
No names or ages have been released.
The cause of the crash is unknown.
