Here’s something of note for booklovers, 80,000 of them will be given away in Stockton.
The books come from a bookstore in Jackson which no longer had the room to store them.
The used books cover everything from novels to cookbooks, but no children’s books.
Nathan Werth with the Little Free Library Stockton Association says the books would have been turned into pulp so he and friends came to their rescue.
“Books improve lives and because of that we couldn’t let this opportunity go to waste,” says Werth.
He also says anyone can take whatever books they want, but hopes there’s a bigger purpose at hand.
“We’d really like to see small libraries come out, or small community centers who wanted to start a library but didn’t have the means to do it,” says Werth.
The books are in a warehouse at the Port of Stockton waiting for a good home.
People must a valid ID to get into the port. The giveaway is Friday from 1 to 5 in the afternoon, and Saturday from 9 a.m. until 4 in the afternoon.
