Adian Al-Maliki is a senior at Encina Preparatory School. She decided to wear the hijab when she was ten years old. “Some people just forget sometimes where they came from. I feel like it reminds me where I’m actually from.” Her family immigrated to Sacramento from Basra, Iraq. Adian became an Encina student four years ago.
