(AP) - As two Sacramento police officers had been taking a person to the city's main jail Monday morning, a vehicle came up from behind theirs and hit them - then fled.
The Sacramento Bee reports both officers and the person sitting in the back of the car during the hit-and-run had been taken to the hospital for minor injuries.
A man has been arrested who witnesses say was dropped off by the hit-and-run driver after the incident occurred.
Police Sgt. Bryce Heinlein says the man had been arrested for public intoxication and is believed to have been a passenger, not the driver.
Authorities had been continuing to search for the driver as of Monday afternoon.
