The back way into Yosemite National Park opened Thursday just in time for the holiday weekend.
It's the latest opening for Tioga Pass since 1998. The long winter weather that caused closure has had a big impact on businesses along the route.
Aili Maass has worked at the Tioga Gas Mart in Lee Vining for seven years.
“It’s been pretty slow, probably the slowest I have ever seen it at this time of year," Maass says. "The pass really affects the business on all sides.”
The National Park Service says there's no gas, food or lodging along Tioga Pass. There's also no cell phone service on the road that connects Lee Vining, Mono Lake and Mammoth Lakes with Yosemite.
