Thursday afternoon Caltrans announced a major change in plans for the Fix 1-5 project. The southbound lanes, which are currently closed, will reopen as planned on Monday. Then both lanes will remain open for 15 days. That's a change from the original plan of just 6 days. Caltrans says the additional time is necessary to prepare the lanes for extra sealing. Then, another big change will occur with Stage 3 of the project. Instead of the planned closure of northbound lanes, crews will shut down southbound lanes once again from July 8th through July 15th. Then on July 17th, in the final stage of the project, northbound lanes will be closed until July 24th, the newly projected date of completion.
