Excessive Heat Is A Setback For Southbound Repairs

I hope you haven't already hopped in the car expecting to drive down the southbound lanes of Interstate Five through downtown Sacramento this morning.  Yesterday afternoon, Caltrans sent out a media release explaining that the re-opening of southbound I-5 has been delayed until Thursday afternoon around 1 p.m.  Seems the hot weather last week slowed down the process of applying a polyester sealant to the top of new concrete.  I kept receiving media releases that everything was on schedule until Monday afternoon, when officials made the announcement about the delay.  Remember northbound lanes of I-5 in the same area known as the "Boat Section"  near downtown will close again this Friday night around 8 as the final phase of this big construction project gets underway.  The entire project is expected to wrap-up around July 24th, keep your fingers crossed!
