Bills introduced by Democrats at Monday's opening day of the new California legislative session include one that would again raise the minimum wage – it most recently went up last year – and another one that would provide health care coverage for undocumented immigrants. That bill failed last year, and right now, supporters are still trying to figure out how they would pay for that expansion.
Republicans are putting forth a measure intended to delay the implementation of a state environmental regulation that is expected to increase the cost of gas at the pump. They’ve also proposed a measure that would redirect some state budget money to infrastructure projects such as roads and highways.
