The Sacramento County Board of Supervisors has approved a partial ban on single-use plastic bags.
Starting July 1, grocery stores, pharmacies and convenience stores in unincorporated Sacramento County will no longer provide the bags.
Shoppers will have a choice of bringing their own bags or paying ten cents for a paper or reusable bag.
Restaurants, farmer's markets and stores that do not sell food or pharmaceuticals are exempt.
