A plan to update the Tower Bridge lifting mechanisms is on hold until this summer, according to the city of West Sacramento.
The construction would have intermittently shut down the bridge over the next two months starting May 28. But West Sacramento spokesman Paul Hosley says Caltrans has put the project on hold until July at the earliest.
According to Caltrans, that's the same timeframe for another Tower Bridge project to replace the log fenders that protect against ship collisions.
The delay of the lifting project was due to the bidding process.
