Blues Americana artist Katie Knipp released her fifth studio album, “Take It With You,” in November 2018. Katie Knipp is a multi-instrumentalist who sings and plays piano, organ, harmonica and dobro guitar. She’s also a working mom who teaches music on the side.
Knipp stopped by the studio before her album release to talk with guest host Randol White about the new album “Take It With You.”
Her album was inspired by a collection of different stories and experiences gathered over the years.
“Honestly, I was just happy to do it at all, because I had two babies in a row,” says Knipp. “The demands of motherhood made it a little difficult to practice at all, write at all. My love for music in general, and for songwriting, and playing just one note for crying out loud, it increased exponentially because I began to appreciate the time that I did have. It’s like a second chance at life, or something.”
That record landed at Number 10 on the Billboard Blues Album chart and Number 9 on the Heatseekers chart. She also won the 2019 SAMMIE award for Best Blues Artist.
You can see Katie Knipp perform with her full band live at the Torch Club in Sacramento on Friday, Sept. 13 at 9:00 p.m. She will also premiere a new music video at the Crest Theatre on Saturday, Sept. 21 at 4:00 p.m. at the Sacramento Film and Music Festival.
