CapRadio is heading into this critical election year with a fresh program schedule on our four News stations, a new format that highlights our local coverage, and a commitment to share a mix of national and local stories that better reflect the full range of life’s ups and downs.

The schedule changes feature a new live broadcast time for our flagship local talk show, Insight with Vicki Gonzalez, which will air live Monday through Thursday at 12 p.m. with evening rebroadcasts at 7 p.m.
Insight’s new time slot will offer several benefits to our audience. Not only will a much larger number of people be able to listen live to the show at noon, but it also allows the team to be more responsive to major events that occur in the morning, providing timely analysis and conversations when our audience needs it.
As a result, we’re making several other changes to our schedule:
- NPR’s midday newsmagazine Here & Now will move up an hour and run from 9 to 11 a.m.
- We’re welcoming 1A to our lineup, weekdays at 11 a.m. The national talk show, whose name is inspired by the First Amendment of the Bill of Rights, is produced by WAMU in Washington, DC and distributed by NPR.
- Science Friday slides back an hour to 12 p.m., with its Friday evening (9 to 11 p.m.) and Saturday afternoon (3 to 5 p.m.) rebroadcasts remaining the same.
- BBC Newshour’s live coverage of international news, including the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East, will shift back an hour to 1 p.m.
- NPR’s legendary interview show Fresh Air will continue to air five days a week at 8 p.m. but will no longer run in the afternoons.
- We’re also adding a new weekend hour to our schedule that offers the best of two of NPR’s most popular podcasts. Planet Money + How I Built This will feature fun stories and interviews about business and entrepreneurship Saturdays at 11 a.m.
- There are new time slots for Reveal (6 p.m. Sundays), Code Switch + Life Kit (1 p.m. Saturdays) and The Moth Radio Hour (7 p.m. Fridays). The Moth will continue to also run at 12 p.m. Sundays to kick off our Storytelling Block.
- Finally, we say farewell to two excellent public radio shows, The World and It’s Been a Minute, that no longer fit into our program schedule.
- Update: Friday, February 9, 2024 — We have one additional schedule change to share. Our Body Politic informed us that their show has suspended production. In its place at 8 p.m. Sundays, starting February 11, you can hear Planet Money + How I Built This.
We’re also excited to share that we’ve increased the frequency of our local news updates on weekdays. Morning Anchor Steve Milne, Midday Anchor Andrew Garcia and Afternoon Anchor Devin Yamanaka are now sharing a local headline every 15 minutes between 5:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. And for the first time in CapRadio’s 40-year history, we’ve added midday newscasts.
Finally, we are also working to increase the variety of local stories we cover. It’s our goal that in addition to the independent, trusted journalism you rely on every day, we and NPR can share more moments that make you smile, laugh or reflect on the world around us. Because when you listen to CapRadio News, facts matter and stories inspire.
