Sarkissian leads a team of two producers and host. Together, they carefully develop guest segments and topics for Insight with thoughtful consideration of what’s going on in the world and our local communities. The team emphasizes hearing and learning from diverse voices and diverse perspectives from all over Northern California and beyond.
Sarkissian comes to CapRadio after spending over 20 years as a television news producer and manager at stations in Fresno, Monterey/Salinas, San Francisco and Sacramento. Most recently, Sarkissian was an Executive Producer at KCRA, Sacramento’s NBC affiliate. He was responsible for overseeing the station’s top-rated 4 p.m., 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. newscasts, earning several Emmy nominations for his work over seven years, including two Emmy wins for Best Newscast and Breaking News.
Prior to KCRA, Sarkissian was a producer at KXTV (ABC Sacramento) and in the early 2000s at KMAX-TV on a program called “Good Evening Sacramento.”
Sarkissian is a San Francisco native. He attended St. Ignatius High School and then studied broadcast journalism at California State University, Fresno.
He is married to Karen Sarkissian and they have three children, Alec, Lori and Talar.
Having grown up in the restaurant business, Sarkissian has a passion for food, family and celebrations. In fact, his claim to fame is having a sandwich named after him when he was born, the Aram Sandwich. It was a gift from his late father who was a pioneer in the San Francisco culinary scene as a restauranteur for over 30 years.
