Chris Campbell is a broadcast personality who has enjoyed various roles including host of the multi-genre electronic music show the Progressive Underground on Detroit-NPR affiliate 101.9 WDET-FM, curating musical journalistic pieces for the arts and entertainment show “Culture Shift,” correspondent with NPR & NPR Music curating segments such as “Heavy Rotation,” “Songs We Love,” or special long form features on various tastemakers and trendsetters who impact global music and culture.
Campbell has also served as emcee of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra’s “Paradise Jazz Series,” “Concerts at the Cube,” and co-host of the Aretha Franklin Amphitheatre’s “Jazzy Wednesdays Summer Concert Series,” hosting numerous national and internationally-renowned acts. He has also curated and hosted Detroit Performs LIVE on PBS-affiliate WTVS-Channel 56, and moderated several community town halls, panel discussions, interviews, industry showcases, and press unveilings.
Campbell sees Cap Radio as more than a radio station – but rather a premier news institution that connects and empowers the community, while enhancing its cultural mosaic. As a self-proclaimed pop culture, comic book, basketball, film and news junkie, he is often going through discount bins at obscure record stores, adding to his burgeoning comic book/graphic novel collection or sitting through movie credits to see if he knows anyone who worked in the film.
