Morgan Cherry is a senior journalism major and communications studies minor at Sac State. She has served as a staff writer and copy editor at The State Hornet. As a staff writer at The State Hornet, she covered news stories such as the push by DREAM Act students to make Sac State a sanctuary campus and the plight of disabled students at the university. During her time as copy editor, she copy edited the news, sports, and culture sections and wrote op-ed pieces concerning women’s issues both at the university and nationally.

Sacramento State rolled out the Student Emergency Housing Program last month, which provides 30 days of housing at residence halls for homeless students. It's one way the university is tackling the often invisible problem of homelessness on campus.
