Live Broadcast: State of the State January 21
Sacramento, Calif. – January 18, 2016: Capital Public Radio News will provide live, anchored coverage of California Governor Jerry Brown’s State of the State address on Thursday, January 21 at 10:00 a.m. Hosted by Capital Public Radio’s Beth Ruyak in Sacramento with Capitol Bureau Chief Ben Adler at the State Capitol, we’ll have reaction and analysis from around the state.
"Governor Jerry Brown's record 14th State of the State address comes at a pivotal time for California," says Capital Public Radio's Capitol Bureau Chief Ben Adler. "The state has added jobs at a higher rate than the national average for the last several years. Yet under one U.S. Census Bureau measurement, California's poverty rate is 23.4%, the highest in the nation. It's often said that there are two different Californias - one inland, and one coastal - and voters will want to hear his vision for both of them."
We'll hear response from Republican and Democratic lawmakers, plus analysis from veteran state Capitol observers. We'll also check in with a panel of listeners from a variety of backgrounds about their thoughts on the state of California and what they think of Governor Brown's speech.
