Sacramento, Calif. – March 15, 2017: Morning classical music host Kevin Doherty will join the Sacramento Choral Society and Orchestra (SCSO) on stage at the Community Center Theater this Saturday, March 18 as a guest baritone soloist. Along with music from the popular PBS series "Downton Abbey," the concert will feature British chorus and orchestra gems from the era by Vaughan Williams, Stanford, Parry, Elgar, Holst and more.
A native New Yorker, Doherty received his bachelor's degree in music from Ithaca College. He has sung in front of hundreds of thousands of people during his nearly two decades as a professional opera performer. “This is the music that I love most. I’ve been missing being on stage in front of an audience, performing with a group of hugely talented musicians,” Doherty stated. “I really couldn’t pass up this beautiful music.”
“We’re thrilled to have Kevin join us for this performance,” stated Don Kendrick, SCSO’s music director. “The audience should really enjoy this night of fun, memorable music.”
According to the SCSO website, “Audience members are welcome to attend in post-Edwardian England dress.” Find out more and purchase tickets online
