Sacramento, CA - Feb. 23, 2024: CapRadio has added nine new members to its Board of Directors. The new directors were unanimously approved during the CapRadio board meeting Wednesday, Feb. 21.
The new board members include Martin Clevenger, President / Founder at The Westerra Group; Susan Catron, Dean Emerita at UC Davis Continuining and Professional Education; Nick Llanos, Training Section Chief at EDD; Erike Young, Risk Manager at California Intergovernmental Risk Authority; James Richardson, Journalist, Author and Retired Episcopal Priest; Leigh White, Semi-Retired / Director, Board of Directors at Paratransit, Inc.; Stacey Schwartz, Career Counselor at Your Career Doc; Jim Bolt, Senior Vice President of Marketing & Sales at O2 Hydration; and Lynn Belzer, Retired.
“The CapRadio Board of Directors and Sacramento State are fortunate to welcome these new members,” University President Luke Wood said. “They bring a range of valuable experiences and diverse insights, as well as a commitment to thoughtful stewardship for the station as we move forward.”
The CapRadio directors were chosen from diverse and varied segments of the community and bring professional, volunteer and personnel experiences and perspectives meant to provide effective leadership and clear vision and direction for the public media organization.
“This is a notable milestone for CapRadio as we stabilize the organization and continue making progress,” CapRadio Interim President and General Manager Tom Karlo said. “The new board members, in addition to incoming Interim President and General Manager Frank Maranzino, offer confidence that CapRadio will have strong leadership and governance moving forward.”
The addition of the new directors provides the board with membership required to conduct CapRadio business. The board was depleted last fall when resignations followed a California State University audit that uncovered organizational and oversight deficiencies. Since the audit, significant financial and organizational changes have been made to strengthen CapRadio. The addition of the new board members is expected to help continue the organization’s recovery.
