They’re recommending that all outdoor gatherings and sporting events be cancelled until further notice because of potentially hazardous levels of smoke.
El Dorado County Health Officer Jason Eberhart-Phillips says they’re also advising businesses in the Y-area of South Lake Tahoe to shut down.
"We’re asking that businesses providing non-essential services close voluntarily at least while the visibility around their places of business remains very low."
He says people with lung or heart disease and the elderly are advised to leave areas where levels of particulate matter are high.
