The fire that has just burned 200 homes in South Lake Tahoe has already brought outpourings of assistance from area businesses, as well as all the personal and Red Cross donations being made. Raley’s pledged to match the first $100,000 donated within its stores everywhere.
Several employees lost their homes to the blaze. Wells Fargo Bank pledged $40,000 to the Red Cross and $20,000 to the Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care organization. Bank of America pledged $20,000, and set up a system to accept donations. Other gifts have come from Home Depot, Safeway, Campbell Soup, and the Atlantis resort has organized a fundraiser this week.
