Legislature Passes Hundreds of Bills

The Assembly passed more than 100 bills. Among them, a measure that would streamline the process of firing teachers accused of immoral or unprofessional conduct.

A measure dubbed the Domestic Workers Bill of Rights, would extend labor protections such as wage and working hour standards to housekeepers, nannies and caregivers.  

The Senate passed a bill that regulates fracking, a controversial drilling process that extracts oil and natural gas.

And in a move linked to the controversy surrounding the Boy Scouts of America, the Senate also voted to take away the tax exempt status of youth groups that discriminate based on sexual orientation, gender identity or religious affiliation.
