The contest is called: “Calling All Dreamers” and part of the prize is one-year of free rent at a storefront on J Street.
“We had 49 applicants overall. They were all very high-end, really great entrepreneurs.”
Valerie Mamone-Werder is with the Downtown Sacramento Partnership –the agency putting on the contest.
The finalists include: a high-end candy store, an organic juice café and a recording studio. Mamone-Werder says whoever wins will help attract more people to the business district.
“It would bring real personality, kind of edginess and really style and charm, all of them, with some great energy downtown.”
People can see videos of the finalists and vote
online. The winner will be announced in about a month…and the new business will open in mid-November.
