There’s nothing like leaving when you’re on top. After presiding several rocky economic years, Finance Director Ana Matosantos oversaw a budget process this year that ended in a balanced financial plan. She’ll be stepping down in September. She will be replaced by Chief Deputy Budget Director Michal Cohen.
Matosantos was first appointed Finance Director by then Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in December 2009. Governor Jerry Brown kept her on in that position when he took office.
In a statement Brown praised Matosanto's performance.“During very tough economic times, Ana carried out her duties as finance director with insight, boundless energy and uncommon effectiveness,” he said.
Matosantos has not said what she will do next.
