Wildfire Causes Power Outage, Highway 50 Closure

Cal Fire says the fire has burned about five acres in El Dorado County between Highway 50 and Durock Road. The forward progress of the fire has been stopped, but one outbuilding has been burned. 

Cal Fire tweeted that a "power substation on fire causing power outage." An estimated 45,000 Pacific Gas and Electric customers are without power.

Cal Fire later tweeted: 

"#50Fire update off Hwy50 in Shingle Springs (El Dorado County). Firefighters making good progress. Power substation NOT on fire."

Cal Fire, Eldorado County, Latrobe, Rescue, and Eldorao Hills fire departments have responded.  

Eldorado County is attempting to set up a cooling station for the people who have lost power, but the library that would have been used is also without power.
