Forbes magazine has ranked the Sacramento River Cats the most valuable minor league team in the nation.
The magazine says the River Cats are worth $38 million, and generates $14 million in revenue, with $7.1 million in operating income.
According to Forbes, the River Cats, the AAA affiliate of the Oakland Athletics, command some of the league’s highest-priced ticket options, and lead all minor league teams in ticket revenue.
Two other regional AAA Pacific Coast League teams also made the top-25 list.
The Fresno Grizzlies tied for 15th place, with a value of $24 million; $6.3 million in revenue; and operating income at -$1.6 million. The team is the AAA affiliate of the San Francisco Giants.
The Reno Aces are 18th on the list, with a value of $23 million; $7.4 million in revenue; and operating income of $900,000. The team is the AAA affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks.
