The governor signaled his support for the fracking regulation bill during the legislative session. Fracking involves shooting pressurized water and chemicals into the ground to extract oil and natural gas.
In a signing statement, Brown said the bill establishes strong environmental protections and transparency requirements for drilling companies. But he also said the measure needs some clarifying amendments, which he’ll work to add next year.
