The number of jobs increased by 1,800 from July to August.
"That's a typical increase and actually we're seeing a normal increase and we really want to see a little bit more so we're hoping to see a little bit more next month and we expect that we will see a larger increase next month."
Heather Chamizo is with the state Employment Development Department which released the numbers today. Chamizo says she expects to see a larger increase in job growth in September because it marks the start of the new school year.
Meanwhile, sectors that added jobs from July to August include: manufacturing and agriculture. Sectors that lost jobs include professional and business services.
