State Senator Kevin de León introduced legislation that stalled two years ago that would have required bb and air guns to be clearly marked.
“I do believe that we should revisit this unquestionably,” says De León. “The fact is that a tragedy like the one in Sonoma County is going to happen again.”
De León suggests painting the replicas with bold colors or making them transparent. In a statement, a representative of the California Air Gun Shooters Association says that the plan “may backfire as criminals could paint their guns the same color to fool police.”
