Bera Bill Would Delay ACA Tax

The tax is designed to raise revenue to subsidize healthcare.

But Sacramento area Congressman Ami Bera says the tax would be passed onto consumers in the form of higher premiums.

"Until we work through all these bumps in the road, let's delay this tax, let's actually provide immediate relief to small businesses, individual families."

Bera and Louisiana Congressman Charles Boustany have introduced a bi-partisan bill that would delay the tax. The bill is called "The Small Business and Family Relief Act."

On Capital Public Radio's Insight with Beth Ruyak today, Bera said it would delay the tax for two-years.

"That allows some time for us to work through the bumps in the road in the Affordable Care Act. It allows us to keep costs down and make sure healthcare's affordable for small businesses, individuals and families."

The bill goes next to the Ways and Means Committee where taxation policy is reviewed.
