Frying is growing in popularity as a tasty alternative way to prepare a turkey.
Fire officials say you should never fry your bird indoors or near anything flammable. And never exceed the recommended amount of oil.
“Always use your device outdoors, says Daniel Berlant with Calfire. “If for some reason you do have a fire, make sure you do have a fire extinguisher handy. Never use water, though, to put out a grease fire.”
Traditional cooking can also be dangerous, especially if the stove is left unattended.
Fire officials say keep small children out of the kitchen and keep pot and pan handles turned inward to avoid burns.
