The Placer SPCA says Poinsettias and Mistletoe, ribbon and tinsel, and mushrooms and chocolate should be kept out of reach.
Leilani Fratis with the Placer SPCA says too many "people food" treats can cause serious health effects like Pancreatitis in animals.
"Veterinarians do see animals coming into their practices who have been overindulgent eating extra turkey or foods that they wouldn't normally have."
Fratis says people should take extra precautions to keep animals from running off. She says there is typically a significant increase in the number of strays that are turned into the S-P-C-A around the holidays.
