California’s health insurance marketplace says more than 3 million people in the state are in some stage of enrollment under the Affordable Care Act.
Of the people who have signed up for a Covered California plan, the vast majority will get financial help from the federal government. And most have paid their first month’s premium.
About half of the people who are buying a health plan are older than 45. Roughly 22% of them are Latino, a percentage Covered California hopes will increase.
Over a thousand small businesses have signed up to take part in the marketplace.
Covered California says there will be at least 600 enrollment events statewide before the March 31st sign up deadline.
