The new Field Poll finds just 13 percent of California voters approve of the job the U.S. Congress is doing, while 79 percent disapprove. It varies by party, with disapproval climbing even higher among Republicans and non-partisans.
But the numbers change pretty dramatically when voters are asked about their own Congressperson. In that case, the poll finds 44 percent of voters approve of the job performance of their own Representative.
According to the Field Poll, large majorities of California voters have held very negative views of Congress for more than a decade. In fact, the last time that majorities of Californians approved of Congress' performance was between 2000 and 2003.
The Field Poll of 1,000 registered voters was completed late last month and early this month.
