A new Field Poll finds most California voters support public pre-school for all four-year-olds.
The survey finds 60 percent of voters back the state's transitional kindergarten program, which provides an extra year of kindergarten instruction for four-year-olds who turn five between September and December.
And 57 percent of those asked said all four-year-olds should be provided that additional year of schooling before kindergarten - even with an estimated $1.4 billion pricetag.
The Field Poll was done in partnership with education policy group Edsource.
