New data from the Regional Water Authority show customers in the Sacramento region reduced their water use by 18 percent from February to May, compared to the previous two years.
The Authority represents water providers in Sacramento, Placer, El Dorado and Yolo Counties. Many local governments have passed resolutions either encouraging or mandating residents to cut water use by up to 20 percent.
The Regional Water Authority says it will share its findings with the State Water Resources Control Board this week as part of a statewide update on the drought.
