The "Fix50" project in downtown Sacramento will finish June 19.
CalTrans announced this morning the major work to repair and resurface the section of US 50 between 18th and 24th streets will wrap up six days early.
The project has been underway for nearly two months. Crews are expected to begin the process of moving traffic back into its normal patterns Wednesday night. The full transition is expected to be complete by 8 a.m. Thursday morning.
Work will continue on the highway at night and on the weekend throughout the year. That may include occasional lane closures for striping and seismic retrofitting, as well as lighting and fencing.
