Texas Governor Rick Perry has made it almost a part-time job traveling from Texas to California to lure businesses and jobs from here to there. He frequently talks about California's high taxes, high cost of doing business and unfriendly climate of business regulation.
But the New York Times magazine offers a story about Rick Perry as a fan of California.
The story says "Perry loves California" -- vacations in San Diego every year and visits the state about a half dozen times a year.
Perry will not seek re-election when his term ends in November.
The Times magazine article quotes Perry as saying "I would live in California, if I could afford it." When he visited Sacramento earlier this month, he arrived in a Tesla.
But his office says Perry was only answering the rhetorical question... where would he live if he could live in any state other than Texas?"
When he was asked the question on a trip to Los Angeles, Perry said..."Why wouldn't you want to live out here? Seriously?"
