Allyson Felix has been a track and field star for a decade. She's won 12 Olympic or World Outdoor Championship gold medals in the 100, 200, and 400 meter individual and relay races.
But Felix comes to Sacramento this year in recovery mode. She tore her hamstring at the World Championships ten months ago. She says healing has been difficult, but she's making progress.
"You know, it does give me a little bit trouble here and there with tightness and things like that," she says. "But, it feels pretty good. I'm more behind with my training. Where I would typically be right now in the year, I'm a little bit behind. So, it's just kind of playing catch up."
Felix ran the 100 meter qualifier Thursday and had the 14th-fastest time out of 25 sprinters.
Here time was just good enough to qualify her for tonight's semifinals.
The semifinals are scheduled for 5:51 p.m. The finals are scheduled for 8:43 pm.
