A Field Poll on California Internet usage shows 86 percent of adults in the state use the Internet at least occasionally.
More than 95 percent of college graduates, people between the ages of 18 and 29 and people making at least $60,000 a year report using the Internet. However, usage numbers begin to dip as the demographic changes.
Sixty-seven percent of those 65 or older report logging on, while 60 percent of Spanish-speaking Latinos say they go online. Just 51 percent of adults who have not graduated from high school use the Internet.
Three in four California adults report living in homes with broadband. Most access the Internet through home computers or tablets, but eight percent say they connect to broadband using just their smart phone.
Among the groups depending solely on their phones are minorities, those with less education and those making under $40,000 a year.
