Firelines are complete on two of three large areas of the King Fire's permimeter, according to fire officials. The last remaining hot spot is west of Loon Lake, with other areas still smoldering in the interior of the fire.
Containment of the fire stood at 95 percent early Friday, with 97,718 acres charred. Fire officials expect full containmet on Sunday, according to the InciWeb report.
Crews are removing hazardous trees and extinguishing hot spots near the perimeter. There were 2,451 personnel still working the fire, down from the peak of more than 8,000. A total of 80 structures were destroyed in the fire, including 12 residences.
The arson-caused fire began on Sept. 13 near the community of Pollack Pines. Thirty-seven-year-old Wayne Allen Huntsman was arrested Sept. 18 and charged with intentionally setting the fire. He pleaded not-guilty in his initial court appearance.
The California Interagency Incident Management Team 1 is now commanding the fire incident, as Unifed Command with CAL FIRE ended Friday morning.
