Governments around the country create a lot of policies and programs, but they don’t always know how to manage them going forward. A new report out today tries to address that problem.
Government is not necessarily known for its efficiency. But a new effort from The Pew-MacArthur Results First Initiative seeks to change that. Gary VanLandingham is the Initiative’s director.
"I think that policy makers have always wanted to make strategic choices," he says. "The challenge has been, up until relatively recently, it was very difficult to really put your arms around the knowledge that was out about what were the most effective programs."
To help policy makers get a better grasp, VanLandingham’s group has released a report detailing how governments should begin evaluating, prioritizing and implementing their programs. He says they’re working with several governments around the country
