Clear Capital had said on Tuesday it was moving from Truckee to a site near the Aces Ballpark in Reno.
But that same day company representatives were in Truckee asking the airport to build it a $3 million, 10,000 square-foot office building to house 100 Clear Capital employees.
The airport board unanimously approved a plan to put the project out to bid. Kevin Smith is the airport General Manager.
“Its an exciting project. I like the idea of being able to retain a lot of local employees, a lot of our friends that work for Clear Capital.”
But the Town of Truckee wants to annex the airport land because it provides road and police services in the area. Annexation would add another layer of regulation to the proposed development.
