(AP) - A moderate earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 5.8 has struck off the coast of Northern California.
The U.S. Geological Survey says the quake shook at 1:08 p.m. Wednesday about 40 miles southwest of Eureka.
People reported feeling it as far away as Red Bluff, 159 miles to the east.
Lt. Wayne Hanson of the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office says no damage or injuries were immediately reported.
