CoreLogic DataQuick reports that 77 fewer homes were sold in the Sacramento region in January of this year compared to January 2014 and the median sale price increased slightly.
Andrew LePage with the real estate tracking firm says home price appreciation in the Sacramento region has dropped significantly.
"Home price appreciation is ratcheted down over the last year, we're still up from a year ago, just no where near as much as we were," says LePage.
LePage says in January 2014, the median home sale price was up 26-percent, last month it was up only 5 percent.
Despite a slowing in home price appreciation, he says many people are still struggling to qualify for a home loan.
"Credit remains moderately tight out there and for certain groups of people it's still either incredibly difficult or impossible to get a loan," he says.
And LePage says for many buyers, there are fewer homes on the market in the price range they can afford.
