The Sacramento Police Department is warning you to be wary of anyone who comes to your door asking for access to your backyard.
Officer Tracy Trapini says several people have filed reports after a group of men posing as utility employees inspected their yards.
"So, they're arriving in hard hats. They've got the orange vests on and they tell the victim or the resident, 'Hey, we have to check your backyard sewer lines.' The victims are giving these guys access to the back yard and in the meantime, other guys are breaking into the house and burglarizing the home."
The suspects often arrive at a victim's home in a white truck with an orange light on top.
The police department says there have been five similar reports in East Sacramento and four reports in South Sacramento since February 6th.
Suspect #1: Hispanic or White male adult, 5 feet 2 inches tall, 170 pounds, medium build, wearing an orange vest and hard hat.
Suspect #2: Hispanic or White male adult in his mid-30s, 6 feet tall, heavy set, wearing an orange vest and hard hat.
