Eric Guerra appears to have won the special election for the Sacramento City Council District 6 seat.
With about 600 votes left to count, Guerra has a 1,400-vote lead over Bruce Pomer. Pomer conceded Tuesday night.
Guerra says he thinks his involvement in the community made the difference.
"I knew it was a tough campaign from the starts, but it was a true grassroots campaign right out of my garage with all the neighbors coming in," Guerra says. "I think that was the winning formula. So many diverse friends and neighbors in the community made this happen."
The Sacramento Registrar of Voters says about 6,100 people voted in the election.
That's a little less than a quarter of the district's registered voters.
