A new report finds more people are buying newly-built homes in the Sacramento area.
The data show 374 new homes were sold in March, up from 330 in February. Last month's sales were also the highest tally for the month of March since 2008. The numbers come from the North State Building Industry Association. Ioannis Kazanis with the association anticipates even better sales numbers in the summer months.
"June, July, August, that's traditionally when we really see a lot of foot traffic in a lot of our communities," says Kazanis, "it's when the heat really kicks in and people just want to take a look at what's on offer."
More than 12,500 prospective buyers visited a new home community last month. That was about 1,000 more than last year and 7,000 higher than two years ago. Most of the new homes sold in March were in Placer County, Elk Grove and Folsom and ranged in price from $300,000 to $500,000.
