The City of West Sacramento is taking steps to meet water use reductions mandated by the State Water Resources Control Board.
The City Council has authorized a Stage Three Water Shortage Contingency Plan to cut 28 percent of water use. It goes into effect next week.
To meet the conservation target, outdoor watering is limited to one day per week. Using potable water to fill or refill swimming pools or artificial ponds is prohibited, but maintaining water levels in existing pools and ponds is permitted.
Also banned, using potable water in ornamental fountains or ponds.
